Terms and Conditions
- ID cards are non-transferable.
- ID cards are valid for 12 months after delivery.
- ID card applications cost £30.
- If you have applied for a new card, you must destroy the old one when the new card arrives, if possible.
- Reprinting a new card costs £30.
- If you do not receive your card because incorrect information was supplied, you can re-apply and the original cost of £30 will apply.
- Any untoward or professional conduct issues arising in the course of you owning this document may result in us asking you to return the card. You will then lose the right to use the card.
- The information given at all stages of the application process must be honest and correct.
- Applications are checked by Law Friends using a robust verification process.
- Any fraudulent applications will be reported to the relevant regulatory bodies, your firm and the police.
- Applications can be refused at the organisation’s discretion.
- The fee for processing the application covers fact-checking your status and is non-returnable.
- If the process has been completed correctly, we will issue your card but reserve the right not to do so for any reason.
Declarations
By applying, you confirm that:
- You understand that your photograph must comply with the guidance provided and that non-compliant photos will result in your application being rejected with no refund.
- You understand that it is a criminal offence to misrepresent your legal status.
- You understand that if the status shown on the card changes in any way, you must not present the card to anyone and should destroy it immediately. You can then apply for a new card with updated information by emailing [email protected].
Rules for digital photos
The quality of your digital photo
Your photo must be:
- clear and in focus
- in colour
- unaltered by computer software
- at least 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall
- at least 50KB and no more than 10MB
What your digital photo must show
The digital photo must:
- contain no other objects or people
- be taken against a plain light-coloured background
- be in clear contrast to the background
- not have ‘red eye’
If you’re using a photo taken on your own device, include your head, shoulders and upper body.
In your photo you must:
- be facing forwards and looking straight at the camera
- have a plain expression and your mouth closed
- have your eyes open and visible
- not have hair in front of your eyes
- not have a head covering (unless it’s for religious or medical reasons)
- not have anything covering your face
- not have any shadows on your face or behind you
Do not wear glasses in your photo unless you have to do so. If you must wear glasses, they cannot be sunglasses or tinted glasses, and you must make sure your eyes are not covered by the frames or any glare, reflection or shadow.
