SRA Fines and Regulatory Law

Speaker: Greg Foxsmith
Date: Autumn 2023

CRIMINAL

Greg is regularly instructed to present on behalf of regulatory bodies in relation to serious, complex and high profile hearings. He has acted for the Health and Care Professions Council in relation to lack of competence and misconduct cases involving paramedics and physiotherapists amongst others. He has dealt with allegations of dishonesty, sexual impropriety, and racist behaviour amongst others. Greg has presented numerous regulatory cases involving social workers, including allegations of lack of competence, inappropriate relationships, inadequate record-keeping, data breaches and other misconduct.

In this presentation Greg outlines SRA Standards and regulations, highlighting the importance of continuing competence among professionals. He shares some tips on that lawyers can ensure that they maintain competence, providing some useful reflective questions that lawyers can ask themselves while reminding us of the SRA principles that guide good practice. He also gives up to date information on disciplinary processes – such as fines – and warns that a lot of action is being taken among immigration lawyers.
