Casey is well known for her exceptional client care as a criminal defence CILex advocate, earning the trust of those she represents through her empathetic, and passionate approach. In addition to her casework, she is also the President of the London Criminal Courts Solicitors’ Association (LCCSA), where she advocates for the interests and well being of the criminal defence community across London.Â
Casey begins by outlining the definitions of key concepts relevant to this discussion. She reflects on what it means to be a trauma-informed lawyer, and the implications this has for client care and building trust. She highlights an important collective issue of vicarious trauma in the legal profession. Casey refers to relevant literature and her own personal experience of managing her own boundaries to maintain a powerful, empathetic practice.Â
