Speaker: Allison Munroe KC
Date: 2026
FAMILY
Allison is a highly experienced family practitioner, working on cases in theĀ High Court on a
regular basis. She is passionate about protecting the wellbeing of vulnerable children and
families. Allison provides training and support for professional clients, as well as working with
young people.
In this talk, Allison explains that there are two competing approaches in Family and Crime in
relation to Child Witnesses. These differences are generated by the different nature of these
proceedings, the former being more concerned with child welfare and the latter being more
geared to determine guilt and potentially impose punishment. Different standards of proof
are involved in these different areas, which have important implications. She highlights
useful guidance, case law and training available for advocates.
