We were excited to deliver this dynamic half-day conference for lawyers practising in Extradition Law.
Covering a full spread of the latest must-know legal updates and practical skills, the event featured a collection of highly practical presentations from leading London lawyers, all at the top of their game, with extensive hands-on experience representing clients in extradition matters.
The conference took place on Day One of our London CPD Festival Week at the Mary Ward Conference Centre, where Law Friends delivered a full week of unique, energetic, and practice-driven training across multiple areas of law.
On Day One of the CPD Festival Week, this inaugural Law Friends Extradition Conference brought together some of the most respected names in extradition law for a focused afternoon of expert guidance and practical updates. From political shifts in treaty interpretation to hands-on courtroom strategy, the sessions were built around the realities defence lawyers faced in 2025. Steve Kennedy opened the event with context from Law Friends Society, followed by direct insights from Rebecca Hill and Gemma Lindfield, renowned extradition specialist barristers at 5 St Andrew’s Hill, who set the tone with updates on current trends, family law overlap, and key procedural developments.
Focused Topics. High-Calibre Speakers. Vast Courtroom Experience.
Every speaker on the programme brought real courtroom experience to the discussion. Amelia Nice (Doughty Street Chambers) examined the intersection of trafficking and extradition, an increasingly common challenge in modern defence practice. George Hepburne Scott, Head of Extradition at Church Court Chambers, delivered a practical guide to appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, and Natasha Draycott (5SAH) demystified the complexities of Interpol in an extradition setting. The day concluded with Karen Todner, one of the UK’s most well-known defence solicitors, who delivered a detailed session on prisoner transfer procedures, drawing on decades of high-profile experience.
A Strategic Update for Serious Extradition Defence Work
Whether delegates were representing clients in cross-border criminal, family, or immigration contexts, dealing with complex treaty issues, or managing high-risk proceedings in the magistrates’ courts, this conference provided a strategic edge. With a tight, expert-led agenda and direct insights from some of the UK’s most active extradition practitioners, it delivered an essential update for anyone working in criminal defence extradition and cross-border litigation.
